Per-app policies come first

Privacy is handled per app. Several of our apps publish their own privacy policy, which describes exactly how that app handles data and takes precedence over this policy for that app. For example, Dither Weather has its own policy at ditherweather.com/privacy. Where an app has no policy of its own, this umbrella policy applies to it.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Our apps are generally designed to work without an account and without collecting personal information; where an app is different, its own policy will say so.

On this website, we may process limited, standard technical information, such as:

• server and hosting logs (for example, IP address, browser type, and pages requested), kept to operate and secure the site; and
• aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics, where enabled, to understand general usage — not to identify you.

If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include so we can reply and provide support.

How we use information

We use the limited information we have only to run and improve our website and apps, to respond to your messages, to process and support purchases, and to meet legal obligations. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except with the service providers that help us operate (such as hosting and email), or when required by law or to protect our rights. Those providers may only use it to perform their services for us.

Purchases and app stores

Our apps are sold through third-party stores and platforms — including the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store, Gumroad, and UI8. Your purchase, billing, and account with those stores are handled by them under their own privacy policies, and we do not receive your payment card details. Please review the relevant store's privacy policy for how it handles your data.

Data retention

We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes above — for example, support emails for as long as useful to help you and keep our records, and logs for a limited period — after which we delete or anonymize it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Because we hold so little, these requests are usually simple. To make one, email hello@portal-and.co and we will do our best to help, consistent with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.

Children's privacy

Our website and apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

We operate from the United States. If you use our website or apps from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here; your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
